Correspondence
The WEC received a letter from a Woodstock
citizen requesting an evaluation of herbicide/pesticide use at the golf
course. The WEC will recommend to the
citizen to privately correspond with the golf course and the WEC will review
the inventory of chemical usage, if provided.
Julia received a request from Roy Crystal
requesting a copy of a 1974 Natural Resource Inventory, authored by students
from the University of Pennsylvania.
Julia will respond and suggest he check with the library.
Announcements
Judith Kerman suggested a WEC member be trained
on using the Town’s ARCGIS software; Erin volunteered, under Judith’s tutelage.
Updates
Farmers Market. The WEC’s table
at today’s Farmers Market was visited often, including by SD46 Senator Michelle
Hinchey.
Youth Center Energy Audit. The WEC is patiently
awaiting delivery of the Report; likely this month.
Critical Environmental Areas. The Planning
Board has just started to use the training as a tool for their use in assessing
permits.
Earth Day. The Earth Day extravaganza is July 31, at the
Community Center. The illustrious Alex
and Julia were prominently featured in the July 21st issue of Hudson Valley One. The always taciturn Erin recorded a spot with
WDST promoting the event.
Composting. Community Composting will present to the WEC at
the August 4 meeting.
FAM Acres proposed development. Laura will support WEC efforts to review and
revise the appropriate Town environmental laws and regulations. To that end, the WEC voted unanimously to recommend
changing the wetlands buffer from 100 to 250 feet (260-34a). Additionally, the WEC voted unanimously to
recommend to the Planning Board that the FAM Acres owner hire a certified
wetlands scientist to accurately delineate the wetlands of the property.
New/Other Business
None.
Adjournment
Alex adjourned the meeting at 8:24 pm.
