                                                                                                            April 7, 2021 Zoom Meeting

 

Alex Bolotow, Chair, called the meeting of the WEC to order at 7:00 pm on April 7, 2021.

 

Members Present: David Gross (Vice Chair), Julia Blelock, Bob Wolff (Secretary), Alex Bolotow (Chair), and Arlene Weismann.  Members Absent:  Nick Foad.  Guests were Ken Panza, Laura Ricci (Town Board Member), and Michael Waite.

 

Julia moved to adopt the evening’s proposed agenda. David seconded the motion and the agenda was adopted as follows:

Correspondence

Alex reported mail regarding WEC’s budget status.  Additionally, the WEC the Talk of the Towns magazine. 

 

Announcements

Erin noted that it may a good idea for WEC to ask Solar Generation to join a future meeting and make a presentation of their services.

 

Updates

Ashokan Pumped Storage Hydro Project. The WEC submitted comments to the Town Board for inclusion in their public comments to FERC regarding opposition to the application by Premium Energy.

Open Space Planning. The WEC agreed to evaluate the town for pristine properties, using the NRI as a guide as well as looking at the availability of Greenway Grants.

Youth Center Energy Audit.  Ken to provide additional contacts for researching the use of NYSERDA’s $5,000 grant for an energy audit of the Woodstock Youth Center.

 

Natural Resources Inventory/CEA/Planning Board. The Planning Board members are likely to attend by training by Hudsonia.  Additionally, the Town Board will provide training on the implementation of CEAs in their process at the April 29 meeting. 

 

NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities. Woodstock is now a Designated Community.  The WEC discussed the benefits and logistics of pursuing using the $5,000 grant for upgrades to the Youth Center.  Julia will determine next steps. 

 

NYSERDA Stretch Codes.  A presentation to the Town Board is scheduled for May 11.

 

Other Business

 

The WEC members engaged in a lively discussion regarding the protocol for moving to “in person” meetings.
