Announcements

David, Arlene and Erin will be sworn for their new term by the February 3rd meeting.

Updates

Solstice Community Solar. The Subcommittee will continue to conduct additional research on solar and other alternative sources.  David stated that he had a previous commercial relationship with Solar Generation, one of the CSS providers available in this area.

Climate Smart Committee (CSC).  Erin discussed and questioned the differences between the Climate Action Plan and Climate Resiliency Plan and how they overlap.  Alex discussed the WEC planning longer term goals (e.g., ten years) with a focus on resilience.  The WEC will ask for considerable community input and tap into the skill sets of new residents.

Natural Resources Inventory/Planning Board. The Planning Board will spend approximately 10 minutes at each of their meetings discussing critical environmental areas (CEAs) at each of their meetings.  On April 29 they will host a workshop meeting covering CEAs, in depth. They’ll invite Ingrid Haeckel and members of the WEC to the 4/29 meeting. Julia volunteered to monitor the PB’s discussions of CEAs in the runup to 4/29.

Other Business

Ashokan Release SPDES Permit Modification. Mary McNamara of the Esopus Bend Conservancy spoke to the WEC regarding the DEIS for the modification of the Ashokan SPDES permit.  Mary asked the WEC to review the DEIS on Esopus.org.  The WEC decided to solicit input from the NYCDEP to present some of the technical details of the DEIS Alternatives at a future meeting before moving forward with any action (Note:  Arlene, being a NYCDEP employee recused herself from this portion of the meeting.)

Educational brochure for WEC webpage (on Town website). No update
