PRESENTATIONS:
·
Andy Lee and Rick Volz Playgrounds – Supervisor
McKenna advised the Board he created a committee of six employees who are also
mothers to address playground needs at both Andy Lee and Rick Volz. The committee came up with new playground
equipment, moving some of the equipment and selling some old equipment to bring
the play areas up to safety standards and insurance codes. The cost is about $100,000.00.
·
Comeau Addition Presentation: Les & Jess
Walker – Les Walker said he wanted to start from the beginning. He led the Board and public through the steps
taken to get to the plans presented. Les
Walker continued to lead the Board through the historic value of the Comeau
house which was built by a very prominent builder at the time, Frank Wallace. The intension of the layout was to stay within
the easement acre and to keep the beauty of the property as intact as possible,
from the green lawns to a couple of valuable trees. They achieved their goals by making sure all
offices had natural sunshine and views.
Jess Walker walked through the process of creating a building that would
not compete with the original Comeau house.
Councilwoman Ricci said she was shown several building designs and feels
the one discussed tonight is the best choice.
Councilman Heppner said he was not a fan of the public walking through
the great room to reach other offices.
It was discussed a walkway and another door would be doable. Councilman Earls said he wanted to hear from
other people. Kristin Christofora, build
department employee read two letters from employees who were in favor of the
renovation/building plan presented.
Jackie Earley also said the Walker’s talked with all of the employees
and Board members and she said the renovation was absolutely necessary. A few other people spoke regarding a second
entrance and that it would be easier than going through the building. David Ekroth from the CCD weighed in and the
Supervisor had to remind him it was not the duty of the CCD to remodel plans
presented to the Board. They are
advisory in nature only.
·
Leash Law: CSAC-Jeffrey Viglielmo – The CSAC
Committee is looking to readdress the problem of dogs off leash at the Comeau
property. Said the Town needs to step up
outreach, better signage and higher fines.
Councilman Earls said he was fine with raising fines. Supervisor McKenna said to order and get new
signage up Fine amounts can be debated
later. Further discussion will be
had.
