Comeau Stewardship Advisory Committee

 

MINUTES

November 10, 2014       4-6 P.M.

 

In attendance: Jim H, Richard H, Grace M, Terry FA, Jay W (WTB) Ken P (WTB).

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS:

Next meeting date: December 8, 2014 at Town Hall

 

Approval of the 10/20/2014 Minutes: Grace M moved to accept, Richard H seconded, all voted in favor

 

 

BUSINESS ITEMS:

 

            1 – New Business

·      Gay Leonhardt  has proposed a deer enclosure for a section of the Comeau. She will be invited to a future meeting to discuss this. The Carey Institute and Scenic Hudson can provide further information on this proposal.

2 -  Updates –

·      Ken P. presented Comeau map to the town board. Jim Hanson noted that the next version should be amended to identify the “Dave Corbett Loop” as the “David Corbett Loop.”

·      Jim H reported that the event opening the new section of trail went well and that the trail improvements received many positive comments. Jim also announced that he would be resigning as trail crew head. The CSAC will need to work with the TB to fill this position.

·      Richard H reported that the signs for the Comeau would be ready in one week for installation. Richard and Jay will coordinate this with the maintenance department.

·      Jim and Terry have obtained pricing for trail markers and will order 100 red markers and 100 blue markers with installation holes at the top and bottom of each marker.

·      Jay reported that he and Mike Reynolds are proceeding with plans for the pedestrian walkway from town to the lower Comeau lot.

·      Jim H and Grace M will work on providing a statement of the Comeau for posting on the gate until a kiosk is completed.

Terry H and Grace M reported on a meeting with the Town  Supervisor, Jeremy Wilbur, to explore the possibility of specific off- leash dog walking hours. He expressed no objections to the exploration and no particular support of the idea. Jackie Early, Town Clerk, said she would provide the agricultural and markets
