The regular meeting of the
Commission for Civic design was called to order by Chairperson
David Ekroth at 6:10 pm.
Present: David Ekroth,
Hera, Cornelia Rosenblum, Richard Heppner, Joan Elliott
A
quorum was present, the Agenda adopted as corrected and minutes from 1/27/14,
adopted as written.
Visitors:
Martin Nystrom, David Boyle.
Discussion:
All
members agreed to pursue Town’s signage issues.
CCD
still wants to meet with the Chair persons of the other volunteer boards:
ZBA,
PB, EC, and the ZEO (Building Inspector) about our various functions.
Ulster
Savings Bank: One exterior light still un-shielded and too bright,
focused
towards Mill Hill Rd. and eastbound drivers.
It
is thought that new Police globe lights lettering is too small and not readable
enough from the street.
CCD
not sure if it is possible to change without much more expense.
Library
Annex:
Members
expressed their thoughts and many questions not answered by the Library Board.
David
Eckroth had written to Library after the first viewing of plans and model by
the architect. His concerns and questions about site,
location, planning, form and design.
Hera
reported on Town Board members realizing that the Library “Memorandum Of
Understanding”
made
with the TB was misunderstood, when unanimously passed.
Library
Annex discussion continued with a lengthy commentary by guest Martin Nystrom,
an architect,
who
viewed some problems with the annex design but mainly likes and supports it.
David
Boyle spoke about the serious parking problems that exist and will be worsened
by the
building
of the Annex as planned.
It
was agreed that David Ekroth would write a letter to the Town Board, to
recommend the procedures for compliance,
by the Library, with the various Woodstock board reviews.
